Small Town Charm​

San Elijo Hills has elementary and middle schools, part of the San Marcos Unified School District. The town center offers a number of shops, services, and places to eat. You’ll also find a post office, a gas station, small “food mart,” and Albertsons Grocery Store with Savon Pharmacy. The Town Center has added more retailers as the community has grown.

The San Elijo Hills Town Center includes a 30-acre educational campus and 19-acre city park. There are 1100 acres of open space and miles of hiking trails, with gorgeous views of the ocean, hills and panorama. There is even a Community Director, whose job is to assist residents in planning events and activities.

The main shopping area of San Marcos is perhaps a 10 minute drive, with a wide array of services, shops and restaurants. Since the community borders Carlsbad, there is easy access to the shopping, restaurants, golf, tourist attractions and beaches.

There is lots of preserved open space and hiking trails. And a highlight, with fabulous views in all directions, is Double Peak Park, the highest point in North San Diego County. It’s worth the drive to take in the panoramic views, or go hiking.

Homes in San Elijo Hills include condos, townhouses, attached and detached homes, and apartments. Many homes are of Mediterranean, Tuscan or Spanish style, however traditional American architecture is also evident. Some properties offer magnificent views of the hills, back country and west to the Batiquitos Lagoon and ocean.

It's common to see children biking or walking to class in the morning, as there are several public schools in the neighborhood. Many children will start their education at Palmquist Elementary School but won't have to travel far after graduating, as Lincoln Middle School is next door. Students at Lincoln Middle can find their niche or friends who love what they love with the variety of extracurricular programs available, whether it's learning about the stars in the Astronomy Club or joining their own troupe in the Theater Club.
